Extremely good camera program
This will be a loosely structured review dialogue, with some small complaints near the end.
I bought ProCam because I wanted to take pictures without subjecting them to the JPEG compression process. ProCam supported TIFF, and as such I bought it.
Woah. It does more than lossless pictures.
Autofocus tends to be slow and clunky on the default camera app. This has always annoyed me, but I figured it was par for the course for phone cameras. Being resigned to as much, I was enormously surprised to find that ProCam autofocuses really, REALLY nicely. I don’t know what magic the developer has done under the hood to make it focus so fast and accurately, but it’s amazing. This feature alone would probably influence me to buy it again.
That is not all. You also are given control over the exposure settings, the iso, the shutter speed, white balance (which is partly linked to the exposure setting), and can use an HDR mode (critisicm for HDR at the end). I frequently take pictures in sub-optimal lighting environments (aka, indoors, with windows shades open), and really appreciate the options. I’ve even used them a few times ;)
There are a few problems to discuss.
*HDR mode cannot operate in lossless TIFF mode. This is very disappointing, and has me avoiding HDR mode for the time being.
*The 4k video unlock (payed for!) is limited to 24fps, looks remarkably poor on playback (I think it’s because of the up-scaling), and focuses slowly. It was a total waste of money.
*1080P video, to make matters even more annoying, cannot shoot at 60fps, and the bitrate must be, ah, rather low. Basically, the video modes in this App are useless.
There you go! Pictures good, video bad. Hope this helps someone.
